Small Italian villages between conservation and innovation for a more sustainable tourist offer

Small Italian villages can be a great opportunity to relaunch Italy’s heritage and attractiveness.
Covid-19 has accentuated the interest of travellers, especially those of proximity, towards small hamlets and inland areas, leading them to rediscover places and attractions that had previously taken a back seat. Not just for tourism: phenomena such as city quitting, accelerated by the pandemic, have led many people to consider moving from large centers to the countryside. So, what is holding back this choice?
Lack of adequate policies and redevelopment of spaces, lack of services and constant loss of residents, especially young people.

In order not to miss the opportunity offered by the pandemic, it is necessary to again turn the spotlight onto these minor destinations, on the one hand by improving their use through the enhancement of their authenticity, on the other hand by redesigning them to make them accessible, liveable, competitive with other territories, as well as sustainable.

In this panel we will be learning about a pilot example in the fragile territories of the "seismic crater" and the regeneration of tourists to these internal areas through territorial management and different forms of hospitality, up to smart and 4.0 hamlets such as the hamlet of Lioni in Campania, which by means of digitization and innovation is implementing a new model of tourism development and attractiveness.
