National URBACT Point ANCI
Simone d’Antonio is a sustainable urban development expert who works for ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities) regarding the activities of the National Center of the URBACT program for Italy.
As part of the European Urban Innovative Actions programs, URBACT and Urban Agenda for the EU, he supports numerous cities in Italy and Europe in defining strategies of urban innovation and integrated action plans: Among these, the cities of Genoa and Venice regarding the sustainable impact of tourism in cities within the URBACT Tourism Friendly Cities network.
He has collaborated with UN-Habitat to develop the storytelling program on cities, Urban Journalism Academy, and is part of the Solutions Journalism Network. His articles have been published by, among others, The Guardian, The Atlantic, Reuters, Citylab, Il Sole 24 Ore, Citymetric and Cities Today.
In 2021, he published "Le città sono la soluzione", (Cities are the solution), written with Paolo Testa and published by Donzelli, regarding the best experiences of sustainable urban development achieved with the URBACT and Urban Innovative Actions programs
