Pier Luigi Petrillo is UNESCO Chair Professor in Comparative Law and Cultural Heritage, Full Professor of Comparative Public Law at Unitelma Sapienza University and of Cultural Heritage and Lobbying Theories and Techniques at Luiss Guido Carli.


He is Vice President of the body of world experts of the UNESCO Convention on Intangible Cultural Heritage.

He is the author of the candidacy dossiers of "L’arte dei pizzaiuoli napoletani" (The art of Neapolitan pizza makers), "La Dieta Mediterranea" (The Mediterranean Diet), "La coltivazione della vite ad alberello di Pantelleria" (The cultivation of the sapling vine of Pantelleria), "La tecnica dei muretti a secco" (The technique of dry stone walls), "La transumanza" (The transhumance), "Le Dolomiti" (The Dolomites) and he coordinated the negotiations for the dossiers "I paesaggi vitivinicoli di Langhe Roero e Monferrato" (The wine landscapes of Langhe Roero and Monferrato) and "Il paesaggio del Prosecco Superiore di COnegliano e Valdobbiadene" (The landscape of Prosecco Superiore of COnegliano and Valdobbiadene).

He is President of the UNESCO MAB National Committee.

He was the head of the cabinet, head of the legislative office, legal advisor to the Ministers of the Environment, Cultural Heritage, University and Research, Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies.
