Maria Elena has been leading the Marketing Division and Management Promotion of the National Tourism Agency since April 2018.

Her responsibilities include the development, implementation and monitoring of the marketing plan for tourism in Italy, at a national and international level, operating through the 28 foreign offices on 21 markets, in coordination with the Regions and all the stakeholders in the sector. She holds the role of Vice President of the Marketing Group of the European Travel Commission.

Before her experience in ENIT, she was General Manager of the regional tourism and agriculture company of the Region of Piemonte, where she also took care of the strategic planning and regional tourism marketing for the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics.

She was the Person in charge of Public Relations for L’Oréal in Milan for 5 years, after 3 years in Torino, at the Department for the Promotion of the City and as a member of the Coordination Committee for the Torino International Strategic Plan.

She began her experience in tourism in the Netherlands and Paris, working for two Dutch incoming tour operators.

She has 10 years of academic experience at the University of Torino and has written and contributed to several publications on tourism. She is fluent in 5 languages.
