University professor, cultural and management consultant for national and international institutions, artistic director and curator, Davide Rampello began his career at the Rai in the 1970s as a historical researcher, author and then director of cultural programs and television director. Between 1992 and 1994 he was artistic director of the Venice Carnival, carrying out during the 1990s the activity of curator of important exhibitions in various exhibition venues, such as the Biennale and the Accademia Gallery in Venice or the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara. From 2002 to 2003 he was in charge of communications, image promotion and cultural events of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and (until 2006) artistic director of the Municipality of Palermo.
From 1999 to 2004 he was professor of "Theories and techniques of image promotion" at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Padua and of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart from 2004 to 2006.
From 2004 to 2013 he held several university courses for image promotion and artistic cultural and mass art events at the IULM University of Milan, an institute for which he directed an Executive Master’s on Communication of Territorial Identities launched at the beginning of October 2020. He was president of Triennale di Milano from 2003 to 2012, an almost ten-year season during which the image and activity of the Milan institution was relaunched and renewed on an international level.
In 2010 he was the curator of the Italian Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010 – with the theme "The city of man, living in the Italian style" and in 2011 he curated the exhibition "Tradition and Innovation" also at the Italian Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010, which became a permanent seat for promoting the image of Italy in China.
From 2011 to 2015 he was the artistic director of the Venice Carnival, while from 2012 to 2015 he was the creator and curator of Pavilion Zero of Expo Milano 2015.
Since 2017 he has been the artistic director of Rampello & Partners for which he has curated several projects in recent years including the event devoted to the excellences of Made in Italy "Milano XL", the Memory and Contemporaneity exhibition created for the 57th edition of the Venice Biennale of Art, the concept for and the Artistic Direction of the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2021 Dubai and the installation for “De Signo”, Salone del Mobile.Milano in 2019.
Since 2020 he has been the Artistic Director of the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2021 Dubai.
